FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your business with The Happy Gardener can be as flexible as you need it to be.

DO I HAVE TO BE AN EXPERT GARDENER TO DO THIS?
Not at all. Most of us enjoy some aspect of gardening- houseplants, herbs, cut flowers, containers, however, it is not a requirement to be a part of The Happy Gardener. Independent Garden Consultants are trained with product knowledge which you will provide to your customers during presentations and/or one-on-one appointments.

HOW MUCH COMMISSION DO I EARN?
Independent Garden Consultants earn a base commission of 20-30% on orders with host rewards and a base commission of 30% on wholesale orders. You also earn royalties on team members ranging from 5-10% based on rank and bonus requirements.

DO I KEEP INVENTORY?
No. The only products you order from The Happy Gardener are those that have been already ordered and paid for by your customers.

ARE THERE ANY SALES REQUIREMENTS TO STAY ACTIVE?
$200 in retail sales each calendar quarter is our only sales requirement to remain in active status.

HOW DO MY CUSTOMERS PAY WITH CREDIT?
The Happy Gardener processes all of your customers’ credit cards for you.

HOW CAN I FIT THG INTO MY ALREADY BUSY SCHEDULE?
Many of us have children, a full-time job and various activities that require time. Your business with The Happy Gardener can be as flexible as you need it to be. You decide when to work and how often. You set your own business goals alongside your other obligations.

IS THG A PARTY PLAN COMPANY?
The in-home party demonstration with a host reward program is just one division of The Happy Gardener. We offer a variety of marketing options for men and women to choose which works best for them and their personal business goals.

IS THIS BUSINESS SEASONAL?
The Happy Gardener has found it effective to present for the season: Spring is when our new product line comes out and everyone is excited about getting in the garden and using our organics for their lawn and garden care; Summer is when we focus on our container gardening line for outdoor entertaining and our organic and garden maintenance products; Fall is extremely busy for us with imported bulbs, organic lawn care and holiday shopping; Winter is full of birding demonstrations, indoor forcing bulbs and preparing for getting back out in the garden. Our most popular presentation, Earth-Friendly for Life, is appropriate for any time of the year.

WILL THERE BE TRAININGS?
All new consultants participate in our New Consultant Training conference call to learn how to get your new business started with getting organized, setting business goals, getting demo bookings and how to earn your Stepping Stone products. Everyone is encouraged to join our monthly team meetings for continued support and training. Also available are numerous training CDs and recorded calls that are accessible 24/7 so you can fit your training into your schedule. We also provide ongoing specialized trainings with industry experts- we keep on learning!

THG IS A NEW BUSINESS- SHOULD I BE CONCERNED?
The Happy Gardener has been working directly with the Direct Selling Association (DSA) to make sure we are in compliance with all federal regulations and policies. We received full DSA membership in June 2005. We have also been awarded the DSA 2006 Vision for Tomorrow Award and were a finalist for the Education for Life Award. The Happy Gardener has been featured in publications such as Prevention Magazine, and our founder and independent consultants have been guests on radio shows and interviewed for many magazine/newspaper articles. This recognition is proof that we are doing what’s right and we are moving forward as the trailblazer within the gardening direct sales industry.
